What is Nigeria Student Express?
Nigerian Student Express is a new pilot program by the Canadian Government for Nigerians and legal residents of Nigeria. As a result of this program, they can benefit from a very quick Canadian Study Permit processing time of 20 calendar days instead of the usual 8 weeks. There are certain requirements to be eligible to apply for this program :
- You need to be a Nigerian citizen or legal resident of nigeria
- You must have an offer of admission from a Canadian post-secondary institute for Bachelors, Masters, Phd or post-graduate diploma
- You must have scored 6 each in IELTs Academic
- You must have the equivalent of 30,000 Canadian dollars in your bank account for at least 6 months. You must attached your ticket number from MyBankStatement (A special type of bank statement).
- You must undergo a medical exam.
This program is still in the early stages and IRCC’s website has not been updated with it yet, but more information is available in the video below and the visa office in Lagos may be contacted for more information.

What is myBankStatement for Nigeria Student Express program?
mybankStatement® is a one page ticket generated by your bank to replace traditional paper based bank statements that are normally submitted in visa applications. It contains a unique ticket number and passcode that can be used by Embassies to efficiently verify your account holdings are genuine.
Do I have to submit a mybankstatment for Nigeria Student Express program?
Yes. For Canadian Visa Applications – You must submit the mybankStatement® by either printing it for submission along with your paper visa application or upload the mybankStatement ® soft copy as part of the eApp (online visa application).
Can Nigerians only apply through Nigeria Student Express?
No. Nigerians can also apply through the regular study permit application process, but that will be slower i.e. 8 weeks instead of 20 days.
When will Nigeria Student Express be launched?
As of February 2020, the program has been launched. Though IRCC’s website still has not been updated with the information.

6 in each part of IELTs Academic.
What are the minimum funds required to apply for Nigeria Student Express Program?
The minimum funds required are 30,000 Canadian Dollars or equivalent i.e. 8.1 Million Nigerian Naira
